From 1994 to 1999, the Ferrari F355 GTS has thrilled the fans of the brand to the proud horse. Today, this model always dreams.

If one day you had to buy a Ferrari, you would probably want to choose the F355 GTS. This mythical model has superbly aged and the pleasure that one takes behind its wheel is always as intense.

A mythical model

The Ferrari 355 was produced from 1994 to 1999. It was the first with a five-valve engine per cylinder, hence its name: 355 for 3.5 liters and 5 for the number of valves. It was also the first with a sequential gearbox F1 with steering wheel control.

Originally, two models came out of the Ferrari factories, the Berlin Etta and the “Targa” GTS coupe; then came the Spider Cabriolet version in 1995.

The F355 GTS is always appreciated for its style, its driving pleasure, its superb line (drawn by Pininfarina), its box (manual), its engine or its behavior.

The proportions come close to perfection. We especially like the door openings hidden in the wings. The whole is even more convincing on the coupé than on the Berlin Etta or the Spider. This GTS is perfectly homogeneous and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the history of Ferrari.

Nothing superfluous but the essential

If you do not find anything superfluous in the interior, you will appreciate the tachometer up to 10,000 rpm, the very low seats and the perfect visibility (at the front).

Under the hood, the 380 horsepower V8 engine and its five valves per cylinder can reach 295 km / h and go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds.

As mentioned above, the F355 GTS was the first with a sequential steering-wheel-mounted gearbox. A little slow today we prefer the manual transmission.

The steering is precise, the car is rather light and if the V8 lacks a bit of torque at low revs, it is unleashed above 5000 turns. In addition, for the pleasure to be complete, the Ferrari F355 GTS is a versatile model very easy to drive … except for the slots!

What price for this jewel?

Nearly 30 years after the end of the production, this model enjoys an intact love rating … and this is felt on its purchase price: about 55 000 dollars today, to which you can add some 4,000 dollars annual maintenance.

The note may even inflate in some cases: know that the 1998 Ferrari F355 GTS belonged to Jean-Paul Belmond is estimated between 70,000 to 90,000 dollars. In addition, Artcurial Motorcars will auction it at the Monaco event on July 2, 2017.
