The right tiles save trouble

Apply the adhesive tape correctly

Stir the pastry according to the manufacturer’s instructions and place it in the place where you want to lay the tiles. This is best done step by step and section by section. This is to avoid that the glue is already dried before you can lay the tiles.

With a trowel, you can apply the trowel as desired. Optimal is a thickness of five to ten millimeters. It is important to apply evenly so that the substrate is still planar and flat. How to lay tiles correctly?

For the simple tiling of the floor, parallel laying is ideal. With this method, you work along the directional line in the middle to the walls – from the inside out. To do this, place the first tile exactly where the two strings cross. You are free to choose whether to align the tile with the joint or to align the string cross with the tile center. The alignment at the joint is easier.

After you have laid the first row, complete the row of tiles on the wall so that L-shape forms. When laying tiles, do not forget to leave a suitable expansion joint. If this joint is omitted, it can lead to stress cracks in the tiles due to excessive heat.

Joints protect the tiles

After the tiles are laid and the tile glue is dried, you can fill the gaps. Here, too, you will find sections. Pour the adhesive onto the plates and distribute them evenly with the gaps in the gaps. When cornering, expansion and connection joints are to be avoided. These are then sealed with permanently elastic joint silicone.

For tiling in the bathroom or in the kitchen, you should only use waterproof joint mortar. This prevents water from penetrating into the joints and thus into the tiles. The plates could burst or mold through the water.

After grouting, you can clean the tiles with a little water. It is important not to use too much water, otherwise, the mortar will be washed out of the joints again. Once the joints are completely dried, you can thoroughly clean the tiles.
