The new Asus smartphone can also count on its autonomy. Without autonomy, power is nothing. This formula could apply to the Zenfone Zoom S, the new Asus smartphone that surprises by its versatility.

The new Asus Zenfone Zoom S replaces the mechanical zoom with a dual photo module like the iPhone 7 Plus. You will have understood – and its name is an additional proof -, this smartphone gives pride to the picture. However, with its big battery of 5000 mAh and its excellent autonomy, the newcomer of Asus has other assets in its sleeve. All for less than 500 dollars.

Designed neatly

The Zenfone Zoom S (ZE553KL) has a 5.5-inch screen with AMOLED Full HD. At the back, as we said, we note the presence of two photo modules in the top left and a fingerprint sensor that would have deserved to be a little lower.

The general finish is good with a brushed metal pleasant to the touch but a little slippery. At the front, the occupancy rate is only 70.5% with three capacitive buttons below the screen. The contrasts are excellent and legibility always very good.

Solid inside

The Zenfone Zoom S boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card. To shoot, it benefits (already) from the latest update for Android Nougat with version 7.1.1. In use, there is no slowing down.

On the other hand, the ZenUI interface remains very colorful (too?) And we find many applications not very useful pre-installed that lose 18 GB of storage on the 128 that counts the device.

Connectivity and Multimedia

This new Asus smartphone has classic but complete connectivity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and 4G LTE.

On the multimedia side, it should be noted that the Google app allows you to play videos with all formats except the AVI. In addition, another grievance, the audio assistant of Asus disrupted us more than anything else did. So just, disable it! However, these are simple details, which do not interfere with the daily use of the device.

A big battery for a record autonomy

Asus has chosen a battery of 5000 mAh for an excellent autonomy. One can easily hold two and a half days with normal use. Even in intensive use, the Zenfone Zoom S takes at least a day and a half. This is better than the Lenovo Moto Z Play and almost double the LG G6.

A convincing camera

This Zenfone boasts two sensors at the rear with each 12 Mpx. One with a wide-angle optics of 25 mm, the other with a 59 mm. The set gives a zoom of 2,3x.

At the front, we have a sensor of 13 Mpx for successful selfies. The results are good in full light with details present and better quality than on the iPhone 7 Plus. If a tone remains below the LG G6, the new Asus toy remains an excellent photo phone. In addition, in the image of his competitor, his photographic capabilities are far from being his only asset. Yes, Apple and Samsung are not the only ones to know how to make good smartphones!
