Workplace Safety is of paramount importance because statistics show that in just two years between 2023 and 2024, a staggering 33.7 million working days were lost due to work-related illness and injury!  A total of 1.7 million workers reported an illness they believed was caused or made worse by their work and 604,000 workers reported a non-fatal injury at work.  Tragically, one hundred and thirty-eight workers were unfortunately fatally injured and died due to a work-related accident!  Some of the more common causes of workplace accidents include slips, trips, and falls, which are often caused by negligence, unsafe environments, incorrect use of equipment and lack of proper training The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is designed to improve Workplace Safety and help protect people, buildings and equipment.  Apart from displaying the Law Poster, there are seven basic requirements regarding Health and Safety that should be adhered to by all Employers and Employees, 1) Prepare a Health and Safety Policy, 2) Manage Risks and Risk Assessment at work, 3) Report accidents and illness, 4) Provide information and training, 5) Consult your workers, 6) Have the right workplace facilities and 7) First aid in work.
