Theme park aficionados will have been delighted to hear the news that a new Universal Studios theme park is set to open in Bedford in 2031. This is the first of Universal’s theme parks to open in Europe. With super popular parks located in locations around the world including California and Orlando, expectations for the new UK park are high.
A boost to UK construction
But it’s not just the anticipation of rollercoasters and incredible theming that we have to look forward to – the construction trade is set to benefit hugely from this planned attraction, with organisers anticipating the creation of over 20,000 jobs, according to the BBC.
The new attraction will encompass a 500-bedroom hotel, retail, dining and entertainment space, as well as a sizable theme park packed with attractions and rides based on the ever popular Universal movies. It’s not surprising that such an enormous number of construction workers will be required, including everyone from bricklayers through to specialist architects.
Keeping it local
It is hoped that as many as 80% of the staff will be from the local area. There are often many advantages to hiring local staff: they know the area and the roads, they have good business to business connections, and they are able to bring in more staff if and when needed.
If you currently require construction workers or roofers Hampshire, consider using local tradespeople. Specialist roofers in Hampshire can fix most roofing issues or be called upon for new construction projects.
Of course, once the theme park is built, there will be ongoing job creation opportunities for dining, hospitality and entertainment staff. The entire endeavour is due to create a sizeable boost for the UK travel and tourism industry as a whole.
It is also hoped that government backing will provide support for improvements to infrastructure around the area, such as improved roads, car parking facilities and even air and rail routes to handle the considerable numbers of visitors who will be arriving, no doubt, as soon as it opens.
