Measure the Room Properly First
Record the ceiling height, including any alcoves, sloping walls and chimney breasts. The designer will use your room measurements to produce the best design for your space, therefore make sure to measure carefully and produce a rough floor plan.
Plan Your Internal Layout Around Contents
First plan the internal layout of your wardrobe to contain your clothes and then decide on the wardrobe design. So a full-length hanging rail will be ideal for storing long items such as dresses and suits. On the other hand, shorter double rails would be better for storing items such as shirts and folded up jackets. The depth of the shelves would also need to be decided, and this would normally be around 40-50cm for folded items, and the number of drawers that you actually require.

Match Door Finishes to the Light
Dark gloss doors may appear too heavy for a dark north facing room with little natural light. In such cases a matt or painted finish may be more suitable. Mirrored doors will also make a small room appear larger.
Consider Internal Lighting
A dark cupboard without lighting does not make a great wardrobe. You can add some lighting in the form of LED strip lighting along the top of the wardrobes or even a motion sensitive light inside the wardrobe. This can help in finding clothing quickly especially during winter mornings.
