A mix of Speedy and Tonic, the Kia Stonic is a surprising SUV that plays young and dynamic. He will need that in the face of competition.
Like most manufacturers, Kia offers a new small urban SUV. The Kia Stonic is young and dynamic to compete with the 2008 Peugeot, Renault Captur, Citroen C3 Aircross and other Seat Arona and Jeep Compass. However, like Hyundai with its Kona, Kia wanted to shake the habits with a model to the original style.
Given a large number of small SUVs, Kia chose an original style for its Stonic. We find the grille Tiger Nose typical of the manufacturer but here it is chrome and black lacquered.
The profile is successful with a contrasting roof and a rear post that cuts it in half. The rear is more conventional with a protective shoe incorporating the exhaust outlet. The lines are tense and the whole is successful.
Plastic guards all around the crate, elevated ground clearance, roof racks are obviously of the party. The Stonic is not high (only 1.52 m) and rather (very) compact with 4.14 m long. Customization is possible with nine body colors and five for the roof either 20 different combinations.
The interior is habitable, the chest much less
Black and gray plastics do not revolutionize. As an option, we can add colored inserts for a little cheerfulness. The quality of the materials is average but the assemblies are perfect.
There is no sliding bench on board the Stonic; it is only foldable 2 / 3-1 / 3. A floor with two levels is then obtained. The trunk is a weak point with only 352 liters. However, that is what allows the rear passengers to really have space and three real comfortable seats. Even that of the middle is usable because the tunnel of transmission is not very bulky. This means, among other things, that the Stonic will not be available in four-wheel drive.

What do we find under the hood of the Stonic?
In essence, the Kia Stonic can be equipped with the former four-cylinder 1.4 MPi of 100 hp or the new three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0 TGD-i of 120 hp. In the diesel, only the 1.6 CRDi block of 110 hp is proposed. All will be associated with the six-speed manual transmission.
Many driving aids and comfort equipment are offered and always the warranty 7 years or 150,000 km. This is one of the highlights that should make the little brother of the Sportage one of the stars of the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
